The device detects when someone, or something, hits your car, breaks in or if you get into an accident and starts recording video of the front of the car and inside instantly, sending you an alert to your smartphone Video is stored locally, even without a microSD slot, and kept for up to 14 days, viewed through Owl's mobile iOS and Android app. The outside camera records 1440p HD video, while the one inside records 720p HD video. Unboxing in less than 10 Seconds - Owl Car Cam The HD camera has a 2X zoom, a field of view of 120 degrees, a 4MP sensor with a 2um pixel size. ![]() Owlcam reminds me of GM's OnStar system but the person at the other end of the line - outside of the car - can see me, even if I can't see them. An HD camera lets you open a live view, as well as talk with the person in the car. Owlcam is a new connected security device that looks like a dashcam but secures your car - both inside and out, even when it's parked. While Owlcam shut its doors earlier this year, the product is relaunching now in August 2020, first to return service to its users, and then to pushing out new devices in the coming year. Called Owlcam, we recently tested the device to see how it performed. Many of these new connected devices are very good at what they do - but we recently came across a new device with what we think offers a unique level of security for your car. Some let you talk with a mechanic or operator if your car breaks down. Several OBD devices are available to help track your car and its performance. UPDATE March 4, 2020: Owlcam has been sold and the devices are not being supported at this time. UPDATE 2 August 6, 2020: Owlcam is being relaunched, with service coming to current devices.
